Solar for Africa Blog
The electric light bulb was invented in the 19th century, yet here we are in the 21st with over 600 million people in Africa forced to light their homes with dangerous, outdated, technologies such as candles and kerosene lamps. This is unacceptable for so many reasons. This site is all how the pico-solar revolution is changing the situation.

Hult Global Case Challenge

Right about….now)….smart business students from around the world are competing in the Hult Global Case Challenge are preparing to present their ideas and plans at regional events  in San Francisco, Boston, Shanghai, Dubai and London that will help SolarAid’s social enterprise, SunnyMoney, sell 1 million solar lights in Africa in 2013.

The winners of the regional events will be brought to New York in April to compete in the final (I understand President Clinton will be attending. Brave Mhonie from our Malawi team and Linda Wamune from our Kenya team will also be attending – so big stuff!)

And then…brilliantly…. the Hult Global Case Challenge will donate $330,000USD to SolarAid to help us implement the winning idea!

Exciting times – good luck to all the competitors!

I’m off to present to competing teams in London now…and look forward to meeting the finalists in New York in April.
